Joseph Taylor, LPC is a graduate of Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor MI. Joseph earned his Master Degrees in Organizational Management and Community Counseling with an emphasis in Adolescent and Family Counseling. Joseph’s counseling experience is in private practice and contractual services to agencies, working with marital issues, family issues and addiction recovery education services to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Joseph is a Certified Mass Disaster Counselor with the International Red Cross. Joseph has received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Suicide Interventions, Crisis Interventions and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. Joseph is certified in Counseling Supervision through Oakland University and the Michigan Association of Counselor Education, (MACES). Joseph has training as a Senior Chaplain with the International Fellowship of Chaplains.
Joseph is a past president of the Michigan Marriage and Family Counseling Association. Joseph’s Expertise in Pre-Marital Counseling and Marriage/Family Counseling are a result of many years of working with a variety of ethnicities including Arabic, African American, Hispanic and Caucasian.
Joseph’s deep commitment to families and marriage is evidenced in his ongoing training and studies in effective methodology and interventions. It is his belief that each person was made to be in relationships with other individuals. Love, faith and work are needed to bring about hope in the restoration of relationships.
Joseph’s work experiences as Director of the Oasis Facility of the Detroit Rescue Mission, a case manager for Southwest Solutions in Southwest Detroit, and an internship at ACCESS the Arabic Community Center for Social Services present a varied background. At each location, families in crisis and the restoration of family wholeness became a focus of Joseph’s therapeutic involvement.
